This section provides information on school districts, childcare and education resources to support learning during school closures, including links that support virtual learning (not inclusive of everything that is available). School districts will also be offering virtual learning or distance learning opportunities. Please contact your student’s school to determine their specific recommendations for study while sheltering at home.

This section provides resources and information on cash assistance and employment services such as unemployment insurance, paid sick leave, paid family sick leave, and disability insurance (SDI).

CDTFA Tax and Fee Relief
Emergency tax or fee relief is available from the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) for taxpayers who have been directly affected by disasters declared as state of emergencies, both within California and nationally. Available services may include the extension of tax return due dates, relief of penalty and interest, or replacement copies of records lost due to disasters. Information regarding relief requests is also available in various languages.

Disaster Loss Webpage
You may deduct any President or Governor declared loss caused by a disaster you suffered in California. California law generally follows federal law regarding the treatment of losses incurred as a result of a casualty or a disaster.

Disaster Loss - How to Claim a State Tax Deduction
For taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 2014, and before January 1, 2024, taxpayers may deduct a disaster loss for any loss sustained in any city, county, or city and county in California that is proclaimed by the Governor to be in a state of emergency.

Property Loss Tax Relief
