Replacing Lost Documents
As people return home, they may find that their important documents (such as their passport, social security card, or birth certificate) have been damaged. We understand this is a stressful time and the following links will help guide you to replace your lost or damaged documents.

Vital Records Lost in Wildfires
No Fee Replacement of Lost Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates: People who lost their important papers in a wildfire are eligible for replacement certified copies of birth, death and marriage certificates by the Napa County Recorder-County Clerk Division without fee. Please complete the application and affidavit at this link. You can also call 707-253-4247 and we will mail you the application and affidavit.

Proof of Property Ownership
For proof of property ownership, contact the Napa County's Recorder-Clerk Department. 707-253-4459.

DMV Driver License or Identification (ID) Card
If your driver license (DL), identification (ID) card, or commercial driver license (CDL) has been lost, stolen, or damaged, you may request a duplicate.

DMV Certificate of Title ('Pink Slip")
A duplicate California Certificate of Title must be obtained when the original is lost, stolen, mutilated, illegible, or not received.

DMV Vehicle Registration Card
If your registration card has been lost, stolen, or mutilated, you may get a replacement registration card for a fee.

Tax Returns - CA State (Personal or Corporate)
If a paid preparer completed your tax return, they should be able to provide you a copy of the tax return for no charge. If the tax return was for a tax year in which you were a victim of a designated California state or federal disaster, there is no charge for a copy of your personal income tax return.
